I see many people are confused about Pagerank, Today I am going to tell you guys what exactly is PageRank.
Pagerank determines the importance of a webpage. It is one of the major factor used to determine the pages which appear in google search result.
How google describe Pagerank:
PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page’s value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves “important” weigh more heavily and help to make other pages “important.”
History of Pagerank:
The concept of Pagerank was developed by the founders of Google Larry Page and Sergey Brin at Stanford. Before the concept of Pagerank came in, search engines typically linked to pages that had the highest keyword density, which means people could play games repeating the same phrase or keyword again and again in order to get top result 
How is Pagerank measured?
Pagerank is measured according to number and quality of backlinks you have, the more backlinks you have the more are the chances of getting higher pagerank.

How can I check my Pagerank?
You can use google toolbar to check pagerank of your website. There are several websites on the internet which can help you check your pagerank from different data centers like iwebtool.com
When is Pagerank updated?
Well, this is the question which only google can answer, Still checking past records of Pagerank update we can say it takes place approximately in 3 months.
When did the last Pagerank update happened?
Last pagerank update happened on 25th July, 2008

Well I really wanted to know when an how is is the pagerank updated and thanks for knowing that it was the 25th and tell me more about the page rank with any respect to its algorithm if you come aroung with something like that.

i have a good questiong. i leave comments with links back to my site on other sites comments sections. basically spamming or what ever but i do leave a comment regarding the material. when i look up my site a lot of these sites come up with my comments ..is this a back link. or count as a back link. or a actual back link is the webmaster actually embedded your link on his page.. can some one help me.. i have a few sites also that i want to exchange links with. email for more info please bbrown1018@yahoo.com
