Thats right you should know by now no matter how great you are, blogging on another blog, also known as Guest Blogging is not your divine right. It is an opportunity given to you by the blog owner. Most people blow this opportunity because they are unaware of the rules. In result, you harm the reputation of the blog you are blogging at, but even more you harm your own reputation. If you are serious about your blog and want to promote it, then Guest Blogging is one of the ways you can do it. What is Guest Blogging, and how it can be helpful to me? Guest Blogging is an art that helps both the guest blogger, and the owner of the blog. Most bloggers want to increase traffic to their blog. They want more readers, more visibility in the blogosphere, and more power to their brand. Some go about buying text links, while others decide to start Pay Per Click (PPC) Campaign. Majority of the bloggers don’t even realize that Guest Blogging can be one of the biggest converting campaign they can do for their blog (For FREE). The only risk is, sometimes you might end up harming yourself and your blog instead of gaining any benefits. So do the job right, and you will see the difference in your stat sheet.
Where do I Start? You should start by looking at the most relevant blogs in your niche. Preferably someone who have been in the industry longer. People say, go for the biggest / most popular blog. I will not argue that, but I say if you have an easy opportunity than take it. Once you have found the blog that you want to guest blog on, you need to start researching.
Researching Phase You need to find out who read this blog (What type of audience?). How can you target this audience? You need the answer to these questions before you can decide on what topic to write about. – Who reads The University Kid (TUK) ? – Bloggers, Webmasters, Future Bloggers / Webmasters. – How can you target this audience? – By writing something useful to the audience.
Writing Phase 
Once you have come up with the topic, you must be able to justify it in your mind before going further ahead in the process of writing the post. – Balkhis, Why are you writing this post? I am writing this post because I saw the last guest blogged post. When I head over to the blogger’s site, they had the same topic going on. Which is a big NO NO. When you start writing a guest blog post, you must make sure it is not the same article that you will post on your own site at the same time. Because you should know what it creates. DUPLICATE Content. For your site and for the blog that you are blogging on. Your goal is to add value to the site that you are writing on, as well as bringing some new readers over to your blog. If you write the same article on your site, and then submit it as a guest post on another blog, it might bring you some new users, but it won’t bring you any new loyal readers.
That leaves us with adding value to the blog that you are writing on. – Balkhis how are you adding value to this blog? I am a regular reader on this blog, and as I see that Jason has opened this awesome opportunity, there will be more people guest blogging. I personally don’t want to receive any email containing worthless posts. Therefore, I think if I clearly defines the rules of guest blogging than it will help the future guest bloggers, and we won’t see pointless posts. When writing a blog post, you don’t necessarily have to write about a different topic. Because majority of the good popular blogs will have the topics covered already. But having your own voice and personal point of view is the key that makes your guest post astounding.
Linking Process Don’t think that Guest Blogging is just an opportunity for you to promote your product. So don’t make it self-centered toward your product. You can link to relevant article from your blog, but adding too many external links to your own sites will get your blog post declined. And if it gets approved (only if you have a super good post), you will still see negative comments by the readers.
What should be on your blog? When you submit the guest blog post, your site must have a very good article running, so it grabs the new visitors and converts them into your loyal readers. This is the way to get the most out for yourself and your blog. But remember, this is the second part. You must have good content on the other blog in order to get the visitors to your blog.
Comment Actively I will admit, that I am not very good at this. Due to the fact that there is only 24 hours in a day and I have so much to do. But I will still do my best in responding to each comment on my guest blog actively. So no matter what you do, always, always, always respond actively to your guest blog post.
