Optimizing Permalinks Of Your WordPress Blog
Posted on October 13th, 2008 by Rishabh Sood under BloggingHello guys,
I am not able to sleep its 5 AM here
Thought of writing something. So today I am going to help you Optimizing Permalinks Of Your WordPress Blog for better traffic!
I have seen many people asking questions like
Why my SERP ranking is low?
Why I get less traffic on my blog?
If you haven’t optimized permalinks of your wordpress blog you are surely going to face these sort of problems.
When users or SE’s check your link they see old link structure p=1 p=2 etc. If you make them good you will surely get better SERP rankings and you will fetch more traffic too!
Example of a poor link is
domain.com/p=2 – You cant see whats the link about
Example of a good link is
domain.com/title-of-the-post/ this includes your keywords also and we can determine whats the url about
So how to change your linking structure?
1. Login to your WordPress account.
2. Navigate to the dashboard.
3. Options > Permalinks.
4. Check the “Custom” structure
5. Insert – /%postname%/
6. Update your .htacess file
So thats all I have for you guys today on Optimizing Permalinks Of Your WordPress Blog! I think now I will be able to sleep.
bye guys, Take care

You can also throw the category in the middle there if you wish.
It should be noted that this is best done on a new blog….otherwise established blogs will lose any links they currently have in the SE’s until the blog is re-crawled.

I also read somewhere that to better your ranking, it is helpful to gain links on sites with pr > 1.

Also don’t stick the category in there if you have a habit of changing category names…you can really screw things up.
I’m not sure why this feed came through my email again?
