I had this option enabled automatically. I think that more interesting issue would be spell check for other languages. To do that you need to download a dictionary compatible with language you wish to speak. To do that just click right mouse button on written text and use "Languages/add dictionary", Firefox will open new window from Mozilla site and show a list of accessible dictionaries. The download is compiled with installation. The files are not large (from 16 kB to about 3 MB). I think that it is a default option in Firefox to check spelling.
