How To Mask Your Affiliate Links
Posted on March 10th, 2009 by Rishabh Sood under SEO Tricks/TipsHello guys,
Its been a while now.. I was a bit busy with my exams and now as they’re over I have plenty of time to update the blog
So today, I am gonna tell you about Making your affiliate links.
There are lots of people around who think if they buy something using an affiliate link, they’re going to loose money or get scammed or somthing. But this isnt really true, If you sign up with an affiliate link you arent going to loose anything but you’ll be giving some benifit to the person whole affiliate link you are from.
Still, if people are afraid of clicking your affiliate links you can always mask them and it’d help you to earn more money.
How To Mask Your Affiliate Links
TinyUrl.com – TinyUrl.com is a site which helps you make your URL short. You can use their custom alias system to build a good url.
PHP-Redirection – This one of the commonly used method and I love it, use it and recommed it
You just need to create a new .php file for every affiliate link of your.
For eg: If your affiliate link is about a Compaq Laptop, you should name the file as compaq-laptop.php
<?php
header( ‘Location: http://www.youraffiliatesite.com/?user-id=14w5423 ) ;
?>
Put this code in the .php file and don’t forget to replace your URL
This is all I have about How To Mask Your Affiliate Links. If I have more info on it, I’ll update you guys
Thanks,
Rishabh Sood

Rishab: A good tip there.
You don’t need to make a file everytime. Just put a redirect in .htaccess
I prefer to put a redirect on a folder using .htaccess and one single file is used to redirect all queries for that folder/filename to respective affiliate sites.

Was just about to say what Jeet said.
Another great way is to create a new directory, create an index page and use a HTML redirection (I dont know one off the top of my head)to redirect to your referral link.
So if you called your directory buy, you could use this link:
http://www.domain.com/buy, which when somebody clicked on it would redirect them to the affiliate/referral link!
I would definitely use a .htaccess redirection, because its much faster

You can also use http://www.notlong.com right? I believe that uses a redirect similar to TinyURL.
I think there are some wordpress plugins that automatically masks links too.

It’s like a manual or a check list for working successfully and for selecting the internet marketing services, which will fit for him. In order to keep alive their online business all online entrepreneurs need to familiarize themselves with Internet marketing services. In order to be successful in your Internet marketing business you need to carefully integrate any of these in your online business so that the best results are derived.
