How to create a decent blog

Hello guys,

Its been a while I havent updated the blog, Had couple of hours on my hand today, so today I am gonna talk about How to create a decent blog. I will try to cover as much as possible. Lets start with the Domain Name

Domain Name

A blog without a good domain is in vain, You should always try to go for keyword rich domains. For example if you blog is about Blogging, Include blogging word in your domain name also. If you are starting off with blogging, You can go on with subdomains from wordpress.com or blogspot.com but it does look odd to have long subdomains. Its always better to buy a Good Domain name.

I register all my domains from Namecheap, GoDaddy is also good but I prefer Namecheap much more. You can get a domain on Namecheap for $8.44 by using coupon codes (FIRSTSNOW)

Web Hosting

Setting up blog

Well, there are tons of blog scripts available but wordpress is one of the best! and I would recommend you also to go with WordPress! You can download wordpress from wordpress.org or If you are hosted with Hostgator or me, You can login got your cPanel then click on Fantastico and with a click of mouse you can install wordpress.

Customizing your blog

After you are done setting up your blog, now its time to install some good themes and plugins. If you can afford to get a unique theme it would be great but if you cant then you can go for free themes, There are whole lot of websites which provide free themes for wordpress. One of best I know is wpthemedesigner.com.

After you are done with theme, its now turn for the plugins.. I will list here the ones I am using:

All in One SEO Pack – Its a great plugin which helps you setup your meta tags, meta description, keywords and a lot more things.

Google XML Sitemaps – This plugin you will find on almost every blog, It helps you to generate a sitemap for your blog and then you can submit it to Google, Yahoo and other search engines.

Top Commentators Widget – This plugin helps you to get more visitors as well as comments on your blog, It gives sitewide backlink to top commentator of your blog.

Subscribe Remind – This plugin displayes a short line on each post of yours “Subscribe to my RSS feed” it can help you increasing your RSS subscribers.

Buy Me A Beer – You can ask people to donate on your blog if they find information on your blog every good using plugin.

After plugins its turn to setup your Permalinks,

To setup your Permalinks follow these steps

1. Login to your WordPress account.
2. Navigate to the dashboard.
3. Options > Permalinks.
4. Check the “Custom” structure
5. Insert – /%postname%/

Monetization

Google Adsense, Adbrite and TextLinkads are best options if you want to earn from your blog, Place your ads nicely, blend them into your blog and you can start earning al lot depending on your niche. If you update your blog daily with nice information you will get good amount of traffic and if you get good amount of traafic you can get nice earnings from your blog too.

Promoting Your Blog

You can find forums having having relevant niche of your blog and put a link to your blog in signature(If the forum rules allows it) Be active on the forum and post there regularly.

Using social bookmarking websites may also help you getting lots of traffic, like digg and stumbleupon. Digg each post you make on your blog and you can get good amount of traffic with it

Black-Hat SEO

(SEO) is often divided into ethical and unethical practices. Black hat SEO refers to those practices generally thought of as cheating the system.
Black hat SEO can also refer to a consultant or specialist who uses unethical practices or sells deceptive techniques to others.

Note: This post is not to teach you something wrong but to make you aware about the Black Hat SEO process so that you can report the websites doing it.

Black-Hat SEO Tactics:

Keyword Stuffing
This is probably one of the most commonly abused forms of search engine spam. Essentially this is when a webmaster or SEO places a large number of instances of the targeted keyword phrase in hopes that the search engine will read this as relevant. In order to offset the fact that this text generally reads horribly it will often be placed at the bottom of a page and in a very small font size. An additional tactic that is often associated with this practice is hidden text which is commented on below.

Hidden Text
Hidden text is text that is set at the same color as the background or very close to it. While the major search engines can easily detect text set to the same color as a background some webmasters will try to get around it by creating an image file the same color as the text and setting the image file as the background. While undetectable at this time to the search engines this is blatant spam and websites using this tactic are usually quickly reported by competitors and the site blacklisted.

Cloaking
In short, cloaking is a method of presenting different information to the search engines than a human visitor would see. There are too many methods of cloaking to possibly list here and some of them are still undetectable by the search engines. That said, which methods still work and how long they will is rarely set-in-stone and like hidden text, when one of your competitors figures out what is being done (and don’t think they aren’t watching you if you’re holding one of the top search engine positions) they can and will report your site and it will get banned.

Doorway Pages
Doorway pages are pages added to a website solely to target a specific keyword phrase or phrases and provide little in the way of value to a visitor. Generally the content on these pages provide no information and the page is only there to promote a phrase in hopes that once a visitor lands there, that they will go to the homepage and continue on from there. Often to save time these pages are generated by software and added to a site automatically. This is a very dangerous practice. Not only are many of the methods of injecting doorway pages banned by the search engines but a quick report to the search engine of this practice and your website will simply disappear along with all the legitimate ranks you have attained with your genuine content pages.

Redirects
Redirecting, when used as a black-hat tactic, is most commonly brought in as a compliment to doorway pages. Because doorway pages generally have little or no substantial content, redirects are sometime applied to automatically move a visitor to a page with actual content such as the homepage of the site. As quickly as the search engines find ways of detecting such redirects, the spammers are uncovering ways around detection. That said, the search engines figure them out eventually and your site will be penalized. That or you’ll be reported by a competitor or a disgruntled searcher.

Duplicate Sites
A throwback tactic that rarely works these days. When affiliate programs became popular many webmasters would simply create a copy of the site they were promoting, tweak it a bit, and put it online in hopes that it would outrank the site it was promoting and capture their sales. As the search engines would ideally like to see unique content across all of their results this tactic was quickly banned and the search engines have methods for detecting and removing duplicate sites from their index. If the site is changed just enough to avoid automatic detection with hidden text or the such, you can once again be reported to the search engines and be banned that way.

Interlinking
As incoming links became more important for search engine positioning the practice of building multiple websites and linking them together to build the overall link popularity of them all became a common practice. This tactic is more difficult to detect than others when done “correctly” (we cannot give the method for “correct” interlinking here as it’s still undetectable at the time of this writing and we don’t want to provide a means to spam engines). This tactic is difficult to detect from a user standpoint unless you end up with multiple sites in the top positions on the search engines in which case it is likely that you will be reported.

Reporting Your Competitors
While this may seem a bit off, the practice of reporting competitors that you find using the tactics noted above or other search engine spam tactics is entirely legitimate and shouldn’t be considered at all unethical. When we take on search engine positioning clients this is always incorporated into our practices when applicable (which happily is not that often).

Using RSS Feeds For SEO

Today we are gonna talk about Using RSS Feeds For SEO, Lets Start..

RSS feeds seem to be the rage in search engine marketing, but I’m not sure that marketers are really maximizing the effectiveness of feeds. Typically, marketers and SEO folks take their feed and submit to one of hundreds of RSS feed portals or directories. While this activity does provide some SEO value, there’s quite a bit of duplicate content in that equation. I’ve found that it’s more effective to utilize a feed aggregator to create a more unique feed. For example, once you’ve submitted all your feeds, go to a feed aggregator and list all your feeds there. Also add feed content from other sources including Google News, Yahoo, etc. The aggregator then combines all those feeds into a single unique feed. The new aggregator feed can then be submitted to feed directories as a new feed.

Now, let’s take that methodology a step further. Instead of combining all your feeds or a single feed together, create a number of targeted feeds. For example, open three accounts at a feed aggregator site like www.friendfeed.com using separate e-mails and account names. In your first account, take your original feed and combine it with a keyword based feed from Google News. In your second account, take your feed and combine with a keyword based feed from Yahoo. Do the same for your third account, only use another news based feed provider. Now, you have three separate keyword based feeds that you can submit to each of the feed directories and increase your back links and SEO. This technique is highly effective for low competition keywords. I’ve been able to have multiple first page listings on Google for the same keyword. The trick is finding quality low competition keywords. Once you are ranking for a particular keyword or keyword combo, wash, rinse, and repeat.

But remember they do not not give you any dns support. They will just redirect your old url, say urname.blogspot.com, to www.urname.tk .
If you are a novice you will not realize the difference at first. It will create a framed webpage & you original site body will not be indexed by search engine. Just the meta description & meta keywords will get indexed. Thus when people will search a topic search engines like Google cannot find it even if you have written it in your blog post. So if you can, buy a domain or else, just use blogspot.com or wordpress.com extension for your free blogs. After all, blog is nothing but dynamic contents & if search engine users cannot find these post contents, what is the point for blogging?

I am not able to sleep its 5 AM here Thought of writing something. So today I am going to help you Optimizing Permalinks Of Your WordPress Blog for better traffic!

I have seen many people asking questions like

Why my SERP ranking is low?

Why I get less traffic on my blog?

If you haven’t optimized permalinks of your wordpress blog you are surely going to face these sort of problems.

When users or SE’s check your link they see old link structure p=1 p=2 etc. If you make them good you will surely get better SERP rankings and you will fetch more traffic too!

domain.com/p=2 – You cant see whats the link about

Example of a good link is

10 Ways to improve your website

Hello guys,

Today I am gonna tell you 10 Ways to improve your website I just got an email from one of my friend asking me to give him some tips so I am writing this article here

Lets start

1.) Extend registration of your domain to atleast 5 years so that SE’s don’t think you just setup’d the site to spam around.

2.) Keep your font BIG, If you think the font on your font is very small and colour is giving pain to readers eyes Change it.

3.) Add Alternative text to all images you have on your website.

4.) If you are using iframes on your blog remove them.

5.) Create a sitemap for your website and submit it to Google Webmaster Tools.

6.) Don’t make your website in Flash, If you want to make it in Flash then include a HTML version of your website too.

7.) Make sure logo on top of your website redirects to your Home Page.

8.) Create a favicon for your website.

9.) Create an About Us Page and put it on every page of your website.

10.) Fix all links on your website (External and Internal)
